The front yard is full of volunteers that have started from wind-blown seeds. Here is a member of the family
Lonicera, the honeysuckles. It took root near the mailbox.
This lilac apparently grew from a seed that lodged between the wall of the carport and the front step. This is the first year it has bloomed.
Although this iris is not a volunteer, it fights valiantly through the climbing rose next to the carport.

Hurray for volunteers! They're happy to be where they are. And if you're happy where they are, everybody's happy!
iullxiYou have such pretty volunteers and I can't grow things even with TLC.
I love volunteers! One of the best volunteers I have in my yard is a Cottonwood tree. I have a neighbor that has one and a seed blew into my yard and landed in a flower pot. It grew there for a couple of years and I planted it down by the barn. It's been in the ground for 3 or 4 years...I'll have took back at some pictures I took of it a while back...and now it's about 13 feet tall. One of my friends said that you can't buy Cottonwood tress unless they are neutered somehow. I don't think you can buy the ones that produce cotton. I'm not sure what sex mine is...
